It all started five years ago in an old cottage we bought in the Norwegian mountains. It was filled with beautifully crafted wooden furniture—timeless, yet not quite our style. But, replacing solid wood with cheap plastic didn’t feel right, even if it was all our budget allowed at the time.
So, we set out on a mission to create our dream space using only repurposed and second-hand furniture. I put on my upholsterer hat and started to recouture. It felt so good to give what could be saved a second chance and to prove to ourselves that we don’t always need something new—just a fresh perspective.
That cottage was where this journey began. Now, as we close this chapter to fully embrace our entrepreneurial dream, we carry with us the same vision: to see possibility in the forgotten, to create with intention, and to give new life to what already exists.
And just like that, the idea of Recouture was born.

I’m a pouf with a long history and three previous owners. I’ve supported a small bum, a big bum, a flat one, a round one, an old one, and a young one. I originally come from Hjellegjerde, known for quality, comfort, and character—locally produced in Norway. And guess what? I’m not even a little tired.
You’ve probably heard the saying, one person’s waste is another’s resource. If we truly want to make consumption circular, we need to create a loop for pieces like me. A good story alone might not be enough, but by making me more attractive and durable, I have a chance to get back in the loop.
With a solid foundation and a broken used Amundsen jacket, I now feel like a true comeback champion—ready for a long life, once again!
